The first days at High School are always a little daunting, so we have outlined what boy’s can expect for find in their first few days at Waitaki Boys’ High School.

The first two days at Waitaki Boys’ are filled with orientation activities, a chance to meet with whānau teachers, classmates and getting comfortable with their way round the school. Students are required to wear their uniforms, they will receive their timetables, and calendar events for the first few weeks. On the second day all new students / staff will attend the school pōwhiri followed by a full school assembly. We invite all parents to attend the pōwhiri welcoming new students to the High School. If your son is coming into Year 9 his first day of School will be Tuesday 28th January 2025. In 2025 the pōwhiri will be held on Wednesday 29th January.

For the first two days of school there are no timetabled classes. On day three timetabled classes are introduced and students will meet their subject teachers.
