Apply for International Student Placement

To apply to study at Waitaki Boys’ High School and to live in the onsite Hostel ‘Don House’ you will need to click on the APPLY NOW button. You will need to upload the following with your application:

  • A copy of your passport
  • Your latest school report
  • Your immunisation certificate
  • The signed declaration (you will find this in the online application)

Review

  1. Complete, check and submit your online application and upload your documents
  2. Mr Darryl Paterson, Rector and Mr Scott Mayhew, Director of Boarding will review your application
  3. You will be contacted if additional information or a video interview is required

Payment & Student Visa

  1. If your application has been accepted, an invoice and Offer of Placement will be sent to you. This can be used to begin the Student Visa process
  2. Once payment is received, a receipt of an Offer of Placement will be issued
  3. Mrs Sue Robb, International Student Administrator will help you through this process and will assist with arranging logistics and airport pick up when you arrive

Travel and Medical Insurance

All international students require medical & travel insurance to cover the entire length of their study period in New Zealand. This is part of the requirements set out by New Zealand’s Code of Practice. 

Waitaki Boys' High School uses a reputable insurance company called Uni-Care. Please check the website for full details. www.uni-care.org

If you want to use a different insurance provider, you need to give the school a copy of the policy in English so that the school can check that this meets the requirements of the Code of Practice.

Arrival & Welcome

  1. You will need to arrange Travel and Medical Insurance before you leave your home country. We can do this for you if you have requested it on your application.
  2. We will arrange pick up from Dunedin airport, and will drive you to our beautiful school. The drive takes approximately 2 hours travelling north through some spectacular landscapes and towns.
  3. Kylie Mayhew, our International Student Co-ordinator will greet you with a Welcome Pack, and will take you through an orientation programme at the Hostel and at the School. She will help you to get your uniform and school books, as well as be there for any questions that you or your family may have.
