Hire Our Facilities
Waitaki Boys’ High school has an extensive range of facilities available for hire by private and commercial groups and
organisations after school hours and during the school holidays. Facilities available to hire out of school hours include:
Hall of Memories
Note: The Hall of Memories is currently closed for restoration. It will reopen early 2026.
In the 1920’s a breath-taking Hall of Memories was built in the perpendicular English gothic chapel style. Assemblies and ceremonial occasions in the Hall are enhanced by one of New Zealand’s finest pipe organs. This historic building has earned an ‘A Grade’ Historic Places Trust listing. The Hall of Memories has been hired for occasions such as weddings, funerals and music concerts.

Social Centre
Our Social Centre built to celebrate the schools centenary in 1883. It is a classic two storey Oamaru stone building. Upstairs is a large space that is available for hire. Kitchen and toilet facilities are available.

Auditorium
Our Auditorium built in 2000 with a seating capacity of 350, the schools Auditorium is an ideal space for musicals, productions, lectures etc. It is used extensively by schools (particularly primary schools) for their school productions. Catering and toilet facilities are available and there is plenty of parking nearby.

Sports Facilities
We have numerous sporting facilities available to groups or individuals to hire on an annual or specific period basis.
These include our gymnasium, sports fields, swimming pool, etc.
Don House Hire
Don House has a number of dormitory options for hire during the school holiday periods. We can organise catering through our kitchen, or you may chose to self cater in our standalone open dormitory option.
Hostel hire options are below:
OPEN PLAN STYLE DORMITORY - There are three of these types of dorm in Don House and they are available all year round. These dorms sleep 24 people per dorm and they have their own ablution blocks which contain showers, toilets, basins and towel drying facilities. There is a large common room with a kitchenette attached to the dorms which is ideal for group meetings or for recreational activities.
ROOM PLAN STYLE DORMITORY - There are four of these dorms they consist of 12 double rooms and 41 single rooms with the sleeping capacity of 65. Each dorm has its own ablution block with showers and toilet facilities. The main common room is in close proximity to the dorms. This is a large refurbished area with a fire place, sky tv, games, table tennis, Pool table and a weights gym. The common rom also has a small kitchenette with cooking facilities.
ADDITIONAL FACILITIES - If required groups may use the Gymnasium, school fields, classrooms, Auditorium, swimming pool and the laundry. There is also an eleven seater van for hire if additional transport is required.
SUITABILITY - Don House is suitable for Conferences, Sports teams, Music Groups or even Family reunions.
