From the Acting Rector

Kia ora Whānau

As we wrap up Term 3 it has been pleasing to see our students engaged in various service projects over the last 10 weeks, from environmental clean-ups to fundraising initiatives for local charities. We look forward to hosting Nathan Wallis for an event on Thursday 17 October, in which Nathan who is a neuroscience educator will share his vast experience and knowledge about the development of our young people's brain, and how to be guide and support them through the teenage years. I would highly encourage you to take this opportunity. Please see the links below for more information regarding this event.

The cultural and sporting life at Waitaki Boys' has been equally impressive this term. Our school kapa haka group performed with pride at regional events, and our students showcased their talents in the arts, whether on stage, in the classroom, or in extracurricular activities. Our sports teams have also represented us with distinction, with strong performances at the Winter Tournaments.

As a school we are proud to announce the launch of our website in China - www.waitakibhs.cn, and our WeChat and Little Red Book marketing. These are great partnership and connection building resources as we look forward to welcoming Chinese students in the future.

As we look ahead to the next term, there is much to be excited about. Plans are already in place for several events including prize giving's that will provide opportunities to celebrate all the success that has occurred this year across academics, sports, and the arts. I encourage students to reflect on their progress this term and set personal goals for the next. Each new term brings with it the chance to improve, challenge yourself, and make the most of your time here at Waitaki Boys'.

We also look forward to welcoming back our Rector, Darryl Paterson, who will return from his sabbatical next term. I have no doubt that his renewed energy and perspective will contribute significantly to the ongoing success of our school community.

Wishing everyone a restful and enjoyable break ahead.
